Lake Vermilion
Walleye Fishing Guide

Lake Layout & Key Structure
Rock everywhere — boulder shorelines, deep rocky drop-offs, and submerged reefs. Weed bays on the east end. Big-water Big Bay vs. island-studded west end fish very differently.
Seasonal Walleye Tactics
Walleyes on the rocky points in 6–12 ft. Smallmouth pre-spawn on the same rocks — they'll eat a jig + minnow meant for walleye. Tube jigs in green pumpkin once they get aggressive.
Walleyes drop to the deep rocks (18–28 ft) and main-lake humps. Lindy rigs and crawler harnesses. Smallmouth fishing is world-class — drop-shots and Ned rigs on every rock pile.
Trophy walleye time. Cast big jigs with shiners on shallow windswept rocks at first and last light. Muskies hit suckers in the cabbage transitions.
Walleye in 18–28 ft on rock structure. Crappies in basin holes 35–50 ft. Lake trout exist in the deepest holes — bring a flasher.
